First time selling of aosa miso soup with Kindai tuna backbone broth in the U.S.: To be introduced at the Wakayama Fair in Hawaii and California -- Kindai University

Kindai University (Higashiosaka City, Osaka Prefecture) and A-Marine Kinkidai Co., Ltd. (a venture company established by Kindai University in Shirahama-cho, Wakayama Prefecture) will sell their freeze-dried product, "aosa miso soup with Kindai tuna backbone extract" at the "Wakayama Fair" event held in multiple large markets in Hawaii and California. This freeze-dried soup has been sold in Japan since 2020. This is a freeze-dried version of the popular miso soup served at "Kindai University Fisheries Laboratory, Hanare" a farm-raised fish specialty restaurant located at Tokyo Station's Ekinaka. Not wasting any parts; backbone Kindai tuna is utilized to make the broth.

Overview

As a part of collaboration project, Wakayama Prefecture is working with Marukai Corporation and Don Quijote USA, both subsidiaries of Pan-Pacific International Holdings, to set up "Wakayama Fair" booths to introduce Wakayama’s specialties at multiple locations in Hawaii and Los Angeles, California from late April to late June 2023. "Aosa miso soup with Kindai tuna backbone broth" has been selected as one of the special products to represent Wakayama Prefecture at the event.

The sales price in Japan is about 200 yen including tax, but in the U.S., the price will vary depending on locations.

We also plan to export unique products such as "Kindai caviar” in the future. In addition to expanding the sales channels for Wakayama’s local products, we aim to promote regional development by using these products to attract tourists from overseas.
